Day 1. Depart from Johanesburg:
Our very experienced and qualified tour and field guide will pick you up at your hotel or other location in Johannesburg or elsewhere in Gauteng early on day one.
Travel east towards the province of Mpumulanga meaning where the sun rises
The Kruger Park is some 4 to 6 hours away from Johannesburg depending on the entrance gate and camp booked for the tour.
On the way we pass through some stunning scenery as we pass from the high altitude hinterland of South Africa down through the escarpment to the low lying areas or bushveld where the park is situated. Here we find a marked increase in the temperature and a much bushier environment, which is conducive to prolific wild life. A breakfast stop is included.
We enter the park later that morning and start our exciting search for the unique and fascinating animals for which the Kruger is renowned, not forgetting the magnificent bird life and the unique vegetation. Our trained field guide will interpret the sights and sounds as we go.
We arrive at our camp located in the midst of the bush yet protected from dangerous animals. The various camps are designed to give guests a high degree of comfort whilst blending in well with the environment. We relax in the middle of the day with time to study the bird life, read or just doze around the camp.
Later that afternoon we leave the camp to continue our search for new and exciting animals. As the day cools and nightfall approaches we have the best possibility of seeing game. Even if the big five elude us, we are guaranteed of seeing beautiful animals such as giraffe, kudu, wildebeest, zebra, impala and many others.
As dusk falls we return to our camp to have a delicious braai (barbeque) in the camp sampling the tasty South African bush fare and sipping on the famous local wines.
Accommodation is in basic yet comfortable private en-suite chalets with air conditioning.
Day 2-in the reserve:
Today we continue with our guided drive in the reserve as dawn breaks over the African bush. Certainly
our tally of the big five is growing by now!
Later that morning we stop at one of the beautiful picnic spots in the reserve where our guide will cook a delicious brunch washed down with fresh coffee/tea or juice.
As an optional extra, guests can elect to go on a walk in the bush with experienced rangers where we have an opportunity to use all our senses of sight, smell, feel and hearing in an exciting first hand encounter with nature in the raw.
Mid day is spent in the camp studying the bird and plant life that abounds.
That evening we embark on an exciting open vehicle sunset game drive combined with a braai in the bush (only available at certain camps). Guests will be accompanied on the drive by a trained park guide who will be able to interpret the nocturnal sounds and sights. This is an opportunity not to be missed. Alternatively where bush braais are not offered, guests will be treated to a typical South African meal in the camp restaurant after conclusion of the sunset drive.
Day 3- return to Johannesburg via the beautiful panoramic scenic route:
We leave our camp early for our morning game drive whilst heading for the exit gate. Reluctantly we leave the reserve vowing to return as soon as possible. Fortunately the fun is not over as we take the scenic route taking in the magic and history of the area.
Place we visit include:
- Pilgrims Rest with many associations with the early gold mining-now restored into a living museum,
- Sabie town, centre of the local forestry industry,
- Gods Window with panoramic views,
Mac Mac falls and other view spots.
- Lunch will be included on this day.
- We arrive back in Johannesburg late afternoon.
